St Stephen's Monuments, Bristol
A number of monuments over the entrance to the busy café at St Stephen’s Church in Bristol city centre were found to be unstable and in danger of collapse. A conservation programme on five historic monuments was carried out including dismantling, removing the corroded iron fixings and rebuilding with stainless steel cramps.
The monuments had suffered some surface damage and were extremely dirty. A careful cleaning and repair programme was executed to improve the overall legibility and impact of these fine monuments.
