Conservation Cleaning

SSHC Ltd has over thirty years, experience of developing cleaning techniques for a wide variety of historic surfaces both exterior and interior

Cleaning is an integral part of all our contracts on many different materials; marble, alabaster, lime stone, sand stone and plaster to name a few. Each case is assessed to the correct approach in relation to the surface condition and the character of the soiling; for example carbon deposits, biological growth and atmospheric dust, debris and grease typical of internal surfaces. Each cleaning programme requires careful assessment to determine the most efficient method of cleaning with the least risk to the surface.

The fragment is D-shaped in plan and is known to stand on the line of the Roman landward wall. It incorporates the base of a Roman bastion still visible as the foundation of Roman bricks and a section of the Roman city wall.
