SSHC Ltd are award-winning specialists in the conservation of historic buildings, archaeology, monuments and sculpture

Our experience spans over 35 years and we have worked on a wide range of churches and historic sites, providing a full service from conservation reports and surveys, through to execution on site by our highly-skilled team of masons, carvers and conservators.

The company operates both as a main contractor, sub-contractor and specialist consultant, advising and undertaking the repair and conservation of architectural stonework, archaeological sites and museum pieces, church monuments, historic plaster and render as well as sculpture and decorative surfaces.

We monitor and report on decay mechanisms as well as executing complex conservation specifications including the cleaning, consolidation, repair and replacement where necessary of historic fabric, sculpture and decoration.

As a main contractor we are experienced at working alongside key consultants such as structural engineers, fabricators and lighting engineers. Although based near Wells in Somerset, SSHC operate all over the West Country, Wales, The Midlands, London and the South as well as further afield.

Skills

The award winning team composed of skilled archaeologists, carvers, masons and conservators - as well as specialist partners - has a proven ability to deliver on projects of all types and sizes, from ruinous castles & church towers, church monuments of national significance to small churchyard tombs, headstones and fragments of historic plaster.

We are unusual in that our report writing and survey work, including rope access, is always informed by our experience of actually running conservation projects. We often run contracts from initial survey to final completion. Clients find us cost effective, as our technical reporting is informed by a practical understanding of project management.

We have an unusually broad combination of skills, experience and expertise - bringing together the academic, archaeological, practical and creative disciplines necessary to solve not just technical, aesthetic but also financial issues in close collaboration with our clients.

SSHC Ltd  is Chas & Constructionline accredited and the whole team has considerable experience in dealing with health and safety issues on site and complying with CDM regulations.
