Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight

During 2016 SSHC undertook a contract of works at Carisbrooke Castle on the Isle of Wight which is in the care of English Heritage. The work addressed the vegetation growth, failed pointing and defective stonework to the castle walls. The focus was the west part of the Inner Bailey - to the east elevations of the Gatehouse and Armoury.

The castle remained open to the public throughout the contract and was particularly busy during the school holidays. This required careful planning and good communication with the client.

The natural sloping aspect of the site led us to call in our in-house IRATA trained rope access team to undertake work to some of the more inaccessable high level areas.
